Hobbes

Growing up in the 90's, I think one of the best privileges of that time was getting to read the Calvin & Hobbes comics every Saturday morning. It's like an essential part of a child's weekend ritual... Wake up late, eat a hearty breakfast, watch morning cartoons, then read the comics section of the newspaper. Aah... Things I miss about childhood. Wait a minute! I still do those things!!! ^^ Hahaha!

Like me, my brothers also loved the Calvin & Hobbes comics and so for my eldest brother's birthday request, he asked me to make him a Hobbes amigurumi. Of course I said piece of cake since I found a pattern for it months ago. But then he had to say "It should be in his tiger form, not stuffed toy" and ironically the pattern that I have was indeed for the plushie version of Hobbes. What are the odds? I was being tested again. Umm-hmm -_-

The pattern was a bit hard to come up with... Measurements to consider, stitches and stuff. Seriously! I've had to do so many trial and error runs that I've lost count how many times I had to unravel the yarn then crochet it again, then unravel and crochet it again. I went back and forth like a volleyball. It was really frustrating. Well, annoying as it was, it did really fill up my patience bucket. ^^

Hobbes took longer to make than I anticipated but I still finished him a week before my brother's birthday. Phew! I thought I was gonna end up giving him nothing. Well, being my brother I'm sure he wouldn't mind me asking an extension but that wouldn't really sit well with me. If there's one thing I hate, it would be not accomplishing something on time. Seriously, I take deadlines by heart. So I could not be happier when I finished Hobbes with 1 more week to spare. Damn! That was a close one. Anyway, my brother was really happy with his new tiger best friend and complimented me for making him so well. Oh shucks!!! -^.^-
